TATA IPL 2026: SunRisers Hyderabad vs Punjab Kings Match 49 - Preview

The SunRisers Hyderabad will face Punjab Kings next at home in TATA IPL 2026 as we head closer to the business end of the tournament.
In 10 matches so far, we have registered six wins, putting us in third position as it stands. It has been a season of many highs so far and the momentum is sky high despite not getting the ideal result in our previous match.
Travis Head continued his good run of form, scoring a second consecutive half-century. Ishan Kishan got some vital runs as well, taking us to a defendable total on a track that assisted the spinners.
With the ball, Sakib Hussain impressed with a terrific spell while Pat Cummins and Shivang Kumar got one wicket each. There are plenty of positives for us to take from this contest and looking at how the season has panned out so far, there’s plenty of optimism in the dressing room to finish the league stage on a high.
So far this season, the youngsters and experienced campaigners have stepped up on different occasions to lead us to crucial wins. While truly sticking to our motto of Playing With Fire, we have also exhibited many street smart moments on the field over the season.
Some of our players are right up there in the chase for the Orange and Purple Caps as well. Abhishek Sharma (440 runs) and Heinrich Klaasen (425 runs) have consistently been in the top three, while Ishan Kishan (354 runs) is not far away. Eshan Malinga leads the wicket taking charts for us with 15 wickets.
We have a new addition to the squad as well. RS Ambrish, member of the triumphant U19 World Cup winning squad earlier this year, is now a Riser and has joined the team in Hyderabad. Ambrish was signed as a replacement for Shivam Mavi, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to a groin injury.
We have a positive overall record against Punjab Kings in the TATA IPL, which includes two brilliant run chases registered in Hyderabad in 2024 and 2025. On both instances, Abhishek Sharma led the onslaught and once again, all eyes will be on him.
