TATA IPL 2026: SunRisers Hyderabad vs Chennai Super Kings, Match 27 - Preview

After a majestic night in Uppal last Monday, SunRisers Hyderabad are all set to take on Chennai Super Kings in the second of three consecutive home matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
While the experienced campaigners took charge of the batting responsibilities, two youngsters making their TATA IPL debut scripted their names in the record books with outstanding performances. That win, in front of an electrifying crowd in Uppal, put us right back on track to achieving our targets this season.
Earlier in the match, skipper Ishan Kishan led the way with a trailblazing 91 off 44 balls. Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy, and Salil Arora made vital contributions to take us to 216 runs batting first. What followed in the second innings was nothing short of a fairytale.
Praful Hinge, in his very first over in the TATA IPL, picked up three huge wickets—Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel, and Lhuan-dre Pretorius—to script history. He became the only bowler to take three wickets in the opening over of an innings in IPL history.
Sakib Hussain, also making his debut, dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal in his very first over and bowled impressively at the death. His cutter to dismiss Donovan Ferreira was a standout moment in his spell, as he returned with figures of 4/24. Praful too picked up four wickets, earning the Player of the Match award.
A new wave of energy was felt across Uppal as our bowling unit combined brilliantly to secure a 57-run victory. This win also shifted the momentum in our favour, and after a string of positive moments in each match, we finally registered a strong result in front of the Orange Army.
The squad has also seen a couple of changes since we last took the field. Dilshan Madushanka joins the team as a replacement for Brydon Carse, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury. David Payne has also been ruled out, with Gerald Coetzee set to take his place and join the team soon.
In our last three matches against Chennai Super Kings, we have registered two wins - one each in Hyderabad and Chennai. We faced CSK only once last season and recorded our first-ever win at Chepauk, powered by top performances from Harshal Patel, Ishan Kishan, and Kamindu Mendis.
The fire has been reignited in the camp, and the team will be highly motivated to make it two wins on the trot. An entertaining weekend contest awaits in Uppal, where the Men in Orange will look to step up a notch in their quest for two crucial points.
